Apartments proposed for former Preston pub

An outline application for a 72-apartment block with retail on the ground floor alongside a community centre, has been submitted to Preston City Council by PWA Planning.

The 2.71-acre site used to be the home of The Sumners pub, which was demolished in 2018.

The apartments, within a four-storey building, are to be divided into 40 one-bedroom and 37 two-bedroom homes.

There is set to be 6,700 sq ft of flexible use space at ground floor.

An application was submitted last year for a two-storey community centre and a four-storey building for flexible use with 24 apartments above, alongside a five-storey building with 41 apartments and car parking. It was withdrawn in June this year.

According to PWA: “The uses proposed are all as per the previous application, although the number of units, design and layout of the scheme has been amended following further design consideration.”

The architect for the newly-submitted scheme is Cassidy + Ashton.
