111 new homes planned for Broughton set for refusal

Preston City Council have refused a planning application for 111 new homes in Broughton.

The plan, refused by the City Council at a planning meeting, would have seen 111 houses with 35% being affordable, and access to the properties from Whittingham Lane.

This would have been ‘Phase 2’ of the Broughton Park development which was approved in 2019 and now under construction.

The application originally also mentions a public open space, a play area, and planting retained and enhanced.

The development could comprise a mix of detached, semi-detached and mews properties, approximately two
storey in height.

However, the plans are recommended for refusal because of the open countryside location of the development.
