Preston’s second-tallest building is due for approval

What would become the second-tallest building in Preston has been recommended for planning approval.

The building will stand at 21-storeys. Named the LoftHaus, the scheme is estimated to be worth £15million pounds.

ASSH Investments are the developers behind the scheme. They have submitted an outline planning application in January last year.

Preston City Council’s planning committee is due to hear the plans, which would create nearly 300 flats and see the demolition of Firrester’s Hall in Great Shaw Street.

Council bosses have advised around 30% of the apartments would need to be classed as affordable. Six letters of objection have been received about the development from members of the public.

One states the ‘demolition of Forresters Hall would result in the loss of an attractive and historic building’.

Councillors are due to hear the plans at the next planning committee on Thursday 11 July.
